Queensland Premium Education Shines in the Greater Bay Area
2026 Queensland Education Roadshow-Guangzhou Launched
To mark the 18th anniversary of the friendship agreement between Queensland, Australia and Guangdong Province, China, Study Queensland, part of Trade and Investment Queensland, led a delegation to visit Greater China for the first time in 2026. The flagship event—the 2026 Queensland Education Roadshow-Guangzhou Stop—was held on April 13 at the Rosewood Guangzhou.
Hosted by Trade and Investment Queensland and Study Queensland, with strong support from the Guangdong International Education Promotion Association, the event brought together 22 top Queensland education institutions. It showcased a full range of high-quality education resources covering higher education, K-12 schools, vocational education, language training, and study tours, connecting students in the Greater Bay Area with world-class international education and deepening practical exchanges between Guangdong and Queensland in education.
The delegation was led by Mr. Rhett Miller, Queensland’s Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for Greater China. Key education leaders also attended, including Professor Yongyu Li, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement) of The University of Queensland; Ms. Simone Fuller, Executive Director of Department of Education International (trading as Education Queensland International); Mr. Andrew Holmes, Principal of Moreton Bay Colleges; and Mr. Troy Yue, CEO of Charlton Brown. They held in-depth dialogues with Guangdong’s education sector and partners to highlight Queensland’s education strengths and cooperation opportunities.
Mr. Rhett Miller noted that the Greater Bay Area is an important hub for international education and Guangdong’s pursuit of education internationalization presents opportunities for Queensland institutions . Queensland’s education features four strengths: Complete, Connected, Practical and Limitless. It offers a full-spectrum system, global links, industry-aligned courses, and a premium lifestyle. Against a background of opportunities created as host of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Queensland delivers clear study-to-career pathways across schools, VET, higher education and English language training. By leveraging Queensland’s comprehensive, high-quality, and global education system, the roadshow will act as a long-term connection platform for institutions from both sides, advancing deep cooperation in talent development, inter-school exchanges, and research collaboration to help more Greater Bay Area students access premium international education.
Queensland Education: Complete education ecosystem with Global Competitiveness
Queensland has built a complete education ecosystem covering higher education, K-12, vocational education and English language training, making it a top global study destination.
- Higher Education: Queensland is home to some of Australia’s top universities and offers study and research opportunities across a wide range of industries. The University of Queensland boasts strong academic programs and extensive global research partnerships. The university has cooperated with Chinese universities in science, engineering, business, and life sciences, and will expand joint research and dual-degree programs to nurture globally competitive talent.
- K-12 School Education: Focused on holistic education, Queensland’s public schools deliver mature international curricula that build cross-cultural competence and global citizenship. Both public and private institutions seek inter-school visits, co-developed courses, and student-teacher exchanges with Guangdong schools.
- Vocational Education: Characterized by deep industry-education integration, programs are industry-aligned with strong practical training and clear career pathways. Amid industrial upgrading in the Greater Bay Area, Queensland vocational education offers broad cooperation in joint programs, practical training, and targeted talent development.
Connecting with the Greater Bay Area: A New Chapter for Education Cooperation
The roadshow used an innovative format combining themed presentations, institutional showcases and ‘speed dating’, enabling precise alignment between Queensland’s education resources and local demand. Twenty-two Queensland institutions held face-to-face talks with Guangdong counterparts, reaching multiple cooperation intentions on study abroad applications, institutional partnerships, and curriculum articulation.
More than a promotion of education resources, the Guangzhou roadshow marks a key milestone in Guangdong–Queensland education exchanges. Going forward, Study Queensland, Trade and Investment Queensland, and the Guangdong International Education Promotion Association will continue to boost connectivity, launching practical projects in student exchange, teacher training, TNE, research innovation, and vocational education. These efforts will bring Queensland’s premium education to more Greater Bay Area students, explore new paths for international education, and cultivate global-minded talent.
